Slippery Rock
Par: 72
Length: 6,687 yards
Rating: 73.2
Slope: 134

Opened in 1972 as the “Original Course” at Horseshoe Bay, Slippery Rock received a complete renovation in 2016. In remaking the course, Robert Trent Jones Sr. created a challenging course with more than 70 bunkers and 12 water hazards. The course wanders through a landscape of Texas granite outcroppings, pampas grass and native oak, willow and Eldarica pine trees. The most memorable feature of the course has to be the awe-inspiring “Million Dollar Hole” (No. 14), where players follow a winding path across a 35-yard waterfall. It is the most photographed golf hole at Horseshoe Bay.

Apple Rock
Par: 72
Length: 6,999 yards
Rating: 75.4
Slope: 136

Apple Rock is touted as one of the most scenic and breathtaking championship golf courses in Texas. Spanning 147 acres, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. used some of the highest, most picturesque land in Horseshoe Bay for the Apple Rock layout. The course begins in high, rocky terrain and finishes along the shoreline of Lake LBJ, boasting dramatic elevation changes, high-quality Bermuda fairways and Bentgrass greens that offer faster and truer putting surfaces.

Upon opening in 1985, Apple Rock was named among the Best New Resort Courses in America by Golf Digest, and has hosted the Texas State Open, USGA Qualifying events and other regional professional tournaments. With more than 50 bunkers, and water coming into play on seven holes, it creates a welcome challenge for even the most skilled players.

The signature 12th hole is ranked among the most scenic in Texas, with a fairway that stretches along the beautiful shoreline of Lake LBJ.

Ram Rock
Par: 72
Length: 6,926 yards
Rating: 75.6
Slope: 137

Opened in 1981, the course famously known as the “Challenger,” features narrow fairways, dramatic elevation changes and a demanding island green par 3 hole (No. 4). Native landscaping, rugged natural rock outcroppings and Texas Hill Country views add to its designation as one of the top courses in the state. With 62 deep bunkers, 10 water hazards and natural dry creeks surrounding its Crenshaw Bentgrass greens and Bermuda fairways, Ram Rock challenges golfers of all skill sets.

Summit Rock
Par: 72
Length: 7,246 yards
Rating: 75.4
Slope: 136

Summit Rock is Horseshoe Bay Resort’s exclusive, members-only course. This Jack Nicklaus Signature designed layout opened in 2012 and boasts some of the most stunning scenery in Texas. It is considered to be among the Golden Bear’s best work.

Nicklaus said each hole of Summit Rock is a “Signature Hole” as he blended the course layout through the scenic topography and stands of Texas Live Oaks. Holes 1 and 2 play through a wide-open, level-playing area and afterward, players are rewarded with a 30-mile Hill Country view from the elevated tee box at the famed 3rd hole. There are many elevated tee boxes with spectacular views through holes 4-12 before heading down the scenic ridgeline on Hole 13. Most of the greens are large, raised and guarded with slope and undulations that will challenge any putter.

On the day Nicklaus opened Summit Rock, he played holes 10 through 13, shooting -3 at the age of 72.

Whitewater Course
Par: 72
Rating: 75.4
Slope: 136

This intriguing 18-hole, par 72 putting course was designed to play just like a competitive course, but much smaller in size. The dwarf Bermuda grass putting course offers a scenic landscape of waterfalls, rose gardens, exotic birds and a trail. Golfers use only their putters to play through fairways with challenging bunkers and water hazards and putting surfaces.
